Upland Hills Health (UHH) welcomed approximately 30 ninthand tenth-grade students from Mineral Point High School for a Career Exploration Day, providing an up-close look at careers in healthcare.
During their visit, students rotated through three interactive stations designed to provide hands-on experience and insights into healthcare roles:
• Engage & Elevate – Students had the opportunity to engage directly with various departments. Participants got to ask questions, interact with department leaders, and gain insight into different roles and career paths within the organization.
• Emergency Department Scenario – Students observed a live simulation featuring a mock patient brought in by ambulance, gaining insight into emergency care processes.
• Department Tours – Participants toured the Laboratory, Therapy, and Pharmacy departments, learning about daily operations and career opportunities.
The day concluded with a lunch and culinary demonstration by UHH’s Culinary team, followed by an overview of the VolunTEEN program.

“Hosting these students is an exciting way to introduce them to the variety of career paths in healthcare while giving them a hands-on experience,” said Dr. Mark Thompson. “We hope to make this a recurring opportunity for Mineral Point and other schools in the future.”
Departments across UHH, including Medical/Surgical, OB, Therapy, Lab, IT, HR, Billing, and Patient Access, volunteered their time and expertise to make the event a success. Students engaged directly with providers and staff, asked questions, and gained practical knowledge about healthcare careers.
