Daughters of Temperance

"Cold Water" Union, No. 9, D. of T. was instituted in this village on Tuesday, under the direction of Mrs. ADELIA M. BLISS, D. G. P. S., for district No. 5. – This new Union has opened under very favorable circumstances and bids fair to become a useful auxiliary in the great Temperance cause . . .

If that editor's familiarity with the classics is what makes the Democrat so much superior to its contemporaries we have great reason to regret our want of proficiency in that branch of study.
