The 2026 Mineral Point Drama Club presents “Almost, Maine”
Hope (Emilee Birchall) returns to town to track down her former love Danny (Braeden Coyier), only to find him en- gaged.
The MPHS Drama Department presented its spring production of Almost, Maine with performances April 24-26 at the Mineral Point Opera House. Opening night marked the culmination of weeks of preparation by a dedicated group of student actors and crew members. From rehearsals and set construction to lighting and costume design, students worked collaboratively to bring the production to life on stage.
Prologue / Interlogue / Epilogue features Pete (Carson Finley) and Ginette (Avalee Langreck), whose relationship is tested by physical and emotional distance, discus- sing the nature of closeness under the Northern Lights in Almost, Maine.Glory (Lilly Murn), a traveler searching for the Northern Lights, meets East (Henry Chapman), a repairman, while carrying her broken, hardened heart in a bag after the death of her husband.Jimmy (Reese Smith) encounters his ex-girlfriend, Sandrine (Josie Dunn), out on the town with her friends during her bachelorette party, and is saddened to hear the news of her engagement to another man.Phil (Eli Klein) and Marci (Suttyn Weinbrenner) argue while searching for a lost shoe after figure skating, highlighting emotional distance and unexpressed feelings in marriage.Marvalyn (Sophia Erickson) and Steve (August Tucker-Sorum) meet in a laun- dromat and are taken with one another after Steve explains his unique condition where he cannot feel physical pain.Gayle (Milena Straka) tries to return all the love she received from her boyfriend, Lendall (Gabe Hook), in large bags, demanding the love he gave her back, sur- prisingly ending in an engagement ring.Snowmobile enthusiasts Rhonda (Madelyn Steffes) and Dave (Cooper McGuire) explore their friendship transforming into romance.Narrator (Miley Coniber) helps inter- twine the seven scenes of the play.
