Mineral Point’s volleyball squad refused to be shaken by some early Redbird success and won Thursday’s SWAL test with a sweep.

Scores were 25-19, 25-15, 25-16. Pointer coach Kari Kabat was impressed with Darlington’s early approach.

“Darlington came out and served us tough tonight,” Kabat said. “They have some nice float servers and we were a little off balance in serve receive to start set one.”

But that only lasted so long.

“Once we figured that out, we just played really solid all night,” a relieved Kabat said. “The difference for us was that we really controlled our unforced errors tonight. We played really consistent all around.”

Kabat pointed out some individual performances.

“Ava Ingwell was absolutely a DAWG on defense tonight,” Kabat said. “She is playing out of her mind and undoubtedly the best libero in the conference.”

“Brynn Swenson played really well all around tonight and is finally feeling healthy enough to play defense again. She had been battling back pain.”

“Kinlee Prust played amazing again tonight and just keeps the defense honest as they have to stay with her.”

“Sadie Miller had a fantastic night setting for us and serving aggressively.”

“Everyone played again tonight and we are just so deep this year that it is fun to see everyone step up in their role night after night,” Kabat added.
