Nathan Johnson turned in a complete game and held off Mineral Point for a 6-2 Dodgeville win in a non-conference game Monday.
Johnson spaced five hits, walked three and struck out six.
The game started off in Dodgeville’s favor as Bryce Crubaugh- Lockard led off the bottom of the first with a rare inside the park home run. Crubaugh-Lockard finished the game with two hits and two rbis as he also had a sac fly.
The Pointers had a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second.
Hudson Schroeder and Connor Rolli drove them in.
The Dodgers upped the score to 5- 2 in the bottom of the third after Jentry Olson singled in a run to tie the game and Andrew Hesseling slapped a hit and drove in two. The fifth run scored when Blake Stodola grounded out, scoring one run.
Cole Ripp took the loss for Mineral Point. He went four innings, giving up five runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking two.
The Dodgers had 10 hits in the game. Crubaugh-Lockard, Jayce Halverson and Caden Schneider each had two hits with Halverson getting a double. Jack Graber doubled with singles by Hesseling, Olson and Boone Rickard helping the Dodgers to the win.
Hudson Schroeder went 2×3 for Mineral Point. Rolli, Ripp and Evan Kearns added hits with Kearns slamming out a double.
Rolli and Schroeder each drove in a run for the Pointers.
Brett Bossert turned in two innings of relief for the Pointers. He gave up two hits, a run and struck out two.
