Students from Mineral Point High School earned top honors and statewide recognition at the Wisconsin School Music Association State Solo & Ensemble Festival competitions held at University of Wisconsin- Platteville and University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
The talented group of student musicians brought home multiple gold and silver ratings while also receiving elite recognition for exemplary performances among the best student musicians in the state.
Receiving gold ratings were Josie Dunn for Oboe Solo and Soprano Vocal Solo, Lily Fox for Soprano Vocal Solo, Reese Smith for Musical Theatre Solo and Milena Straka for Musical Theatre Solo.
Silver ratings were awarded to Emilee Birchall for Musical Theatre Solo; Miley Coniber for both Musical Theatre Solo and Soprano Vocal
Solo; Lily Fox for Musical Theatre Solo and Piano Solo; Lilly Murn for Clarinet Solo; and Milena Straka for Flute Solo.
In addition to their medal-winning performances, three Mineral Point students were nominated for the prestigious Exemplary Soloist recognition – an honor reserved for the festival’s most outstanding performers as selected by state adjudicators at each competition campus.
Those receiving Exemplary Soloist nominations were Josie Dunn for Oboe Solo, Lily Fox for Soprano Vocal Solo and Reese Smith for Musical Theatre Solo.
The outstanding performances showcased the dedication, talent and hard work of Mineral Point’s student musicians and music educators, while continuing the school’s tradition of excellence in the performing arts.
