Local, state races on April 7 ballot

Local officials are unopposed and one statewide race will be decided in the April 7 spring election.

Incumbents Joni Heisner and Andy Busch are running unopposed for their third terms on the Mineral Point School Board. Members serve threeyear terms.

City races are also uncontested. Mayor Danny Clark and Alders Jared Weier, Steph Mckeon, Keith Burrows and Chuck Allendorf are running for another two-year term.

No one filed for District 18, which represents parts of the city of Mineral Point on the Iowa County Board. Justin O’Brien chose not to run for re-election. Candidates have until noon April 3 to file to run as registered write-ins.

Incumbent county supervisors Jerry Galle and Don Gander, who represent areas in or near Mineral Point, are running unopposed.

The only statewide race on the ballot is for a 10-year term on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Appeals court judges Maria Lazar, a conservative, and Chris Taylor, a liberal, are running to take the seat vacated by Rebecca Bradley.

Bradley, a conservative, chose not to run for re-election. The court usually splits 4-3 on decisions, with liberals in the majority.
