Joan Gay Huxtable, age 85, of Mineral Point, passed away at Upland Hills Nursing and Rehab Center (UHH) in Dodgeville on September 17, 2026.
Joan was born on December 6, 1940 on the Calvert Family Farm in Willow Springs Township to Fremont and Marian Calvert.
Joan was a proud Darlington Redbird graduating in1959 and then went on to Cosmetology School in Madison WI. She worked in Darlington, Hollandale, Dodgeville and Mineral Point beauty shops for over 30 years. Before retiring she was a baker at Point Foods in Mineral Point for 18 years.
In 1961 she met Donald Huxtable and married him in 1962. They spent 54 years together until his death in 2016.
Joan is survived by children David (Sandra) Huxtable, Gleason, WI, Jerry Huxtable, Mineral Point, Amy Gerber, Mineral Point and Penny (Tim) McConnell, Mineral Point. Grandchildren Remington (Erica) Huxtable, Robyn (Brandon) Schreiner, Jacob Gerber, Jaylene McConnell, Teagan (Jeff Hrubes) McConnell and 5 great grandchildren Axyl and Braxton Schreiner, Tristian and Ryder Huxtable, and Laramie Hrubes. She was further survived by her sisters Betty Feia, Ruth (Rod) Erickson, Cindy (Victor) Varga. Sister-in-laws Carol Potterton and Karen Wolf. Three special cousins Deb Raymond, Judy Brassington and Mary Sue Radtke.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, brothers-in-law Bill Trace, Ron Wolf, David Feia, Gene Potterton, nephew Brad Wolf and niece Angie Campbell.
Joan enjoyed visiting with anyone who would have a conversation with her. She was an avid bowler and cross stitcher leaving behind many treasured pieces. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mineral Point. Pastor Daniel Yeazel will Officiate. A Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:50 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
