I’ve kind of become part of the Field of Dreams, if you will. To see my boy on the mound pitching and to see the stadium I’m building in the background is like the ultimate school yard type thing where the kids are playing on Field of Dreams today and the kids can see the MLB stadium as the backdrop and they can aspire to be a big league player someday, kind of thing,” he said.
His son Hudson started for the Pointers. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing two hits, two earned runs, he struck out four and walked two. Brett Bossert relieved Schroeder and tossed 1.1 innings striking out two and walking one.
Austin Enloe and Ashton McNett shared the mound for Pecatonica. Combined they allowed four hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

Small ball and the power of the bunt was the story in this game. In the top of the sixth inning, Schroeder walked Viking Kale Hendrickson. After Hendrickson stole second base, Pecatonica’s Marty Anderson singled on a bunt, putting runners at the corners. Enloe then hit a sacrifice bunt, allowing Hendrickson to score and moving Anderson to second. Anderson then reached third base on a wild pitch. Anderson scored on a sacrifice fly ball by Reid Schlimgen.
Pecatonica had only two hits in the game, both by Anderson. Mineral Point had four hits with Connor Rolli collecting two, while Schroeder and Lee each having a hit.

Though Pecatonica won the game, both teams were winners on this day, both getting to play at the iconic Field of Dreams site where so few will have had the chance to say they did that. It was a good, clean game. Was it heaven? It certainly was a dream come true for players, coaches, and fans alike.
Could this become an annual event? “Tom has the contact now, so maybe it could be every year, every other year type thing,” said Schroeder.
The feedback following the game was tremendous, Schroeder said. “I honestly didn’t know how it would be received, truthfully, and holy cow, it completely exceeded my expectations. Everyone has been just saying nothing but compliments and thank you for getting this started. The boys had such a blast, something they’ll never forget, and honestly, I don’t think the parents will forget it either. Our parents got on a bus and came down and had a little fun and everything, so it’s been nothing but positive vibes on the entire experience.”
If you have not ever seen Field of Dreams, it’s a must watch movie. If you have watched it but it’s been a while, it’s worth rewatching it again.
For the Pecatonica and Mineral Point ball clubs, the rest of the season will be business as usual as both teams return to their respective conferences to play the balance of their schedules and hoping both make a nice run in the WIAA playoffs which begin May 28th. But their game played on April 30, 2026, at Field of Dreams, will be a forever memory.
