The Pointer baseball team cruised past Darlington in Monday night action, putting together a dominant 15- 1 win in five innings.
Mineral Point wasted no time getting on the board. Cole Ripp sparked the early offense with a two-RBI single, and a Redbird error on a ground ball by Hudson Schroeder brought in two more runs to give the Pointers a quick 4-0 lead.
The offense kept rolling in the second inning, as Bossert delivered a two-run double and Evan Kearns added an RBI groundout to stretch the lead to 6-0.
The Pointers broke the game open in the third, stringing together a series of RBI singles from Connor
Rolli, Bossert, Evan Kearns, and Grady Finley to push the advantage to 10-0.
They weren’t done yet. In the fourth inning, Elliot Kite drove in a run on a groundout before Bossert cleared the bases with a triple, bringing his RBI total to five on the night. Kearns followed with another RBI single to cap off the five-run inning.
After four shutout innings from Lee, Bossert took over on the mound. Darlington managed its lone run on a walk to Dante Glendening, but that would be all the Redbirds could make.
The Pointers sealed the 15-1 victory in just five innings, continuing their strong stretch of play
