When the Iowa County Fair started 170 years ago, farmers came to share and learn the best farming techniques.
This year at the fair, equipment used in the past will be on display at a Generations of Power antique farm exhibit that traces the evolution of agriculture.
The exhibit will be in the Commercial Building below the main fair building where vendors had been.
"We will have antique farm machines, tools and tractors of different brands," said Mike Eastman, a member of the Iowa County Fair Board and president of the Iowa County Antique and Collectors Club. "We will also have our club’s thrashing machine on display, belted up and hooked to a tractor by the small animal pavilion to show how small grain was harvested years ago.
"We figured we would try something different this year instead of our annual Antique Power Show that we have been having for years in mid-August since it is the 170th anniversary of the Iowa County Fair," he said. "We are hoping people of all ages will see and learn about the way farming was years ago."
The fair runs though Monday.
