Ike Campbell
Mineral Point High School has announced Ike Campbell as the school’s next head varsity softball coach, taking over the program as the Pointer softball team looks to build on its success as defending state champions.
Campbell brings extensive coaching and educational experience to the position. He previously served as the head softball coach at Highland from 2018 through 2024, leading the program to WIAA Regional Championships in 2018, 2019 and 2023. He was also named Six Rivers West Conference Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2023.
His coaching experience also includes a six-year stint as an assistant softball coach at Pecatonica from 2007 through 2013.
Campbell’s connection to southwest Wisconsin communities extends beyond the softball field. Since 1995, he has been part of the Campbell Organic Farms operation. He has also worked extensively in education at both Highland and Pecatonica as a special education teacher and aide.
For Campbell, coaching is about much more than the final score.
“Coaching has always been about more than wins and losses for me,” Campbell said. “I coach because I love the game of softball and want to instill that same passion in every player I have the privilege to coach. My goal is to create an environment where athletes compete with confidence, play with purpose, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the sport.”
Campbell said he believes the lessons learned through athletics can extend well beyond the playing field.
“I believe that when players consistently give their best effort, treat others with respect, and maintain a positive attitude through adversity, success naturally follows, both on and off the field,” he said.
