September is a wonderful time to embrace our community libraries, and the Mineral Point Public Library has a full schedule of events and resources to welcome the fall season. Whether you are looking for new adventures, or family fun, there is something for everyone at the library this month.
We invite patrons to kick off the season by participating in the Southwest Wisconsin Library System (SWLS) region-wide Library Crawl, which runs through October 31. This is a great opportunity to visit libraries throughout Southwest Wisconsin while enjoying the beauty of our region. By visiting five participating libraries, patrons can collect passport stamps and earn an entry into the November prize drawings. Once your passport is complete, return it to your home library to receive a small incentive prize and make sure your entry is included in the drawing.
September also marks Library Card Sign-Up Month, making it the perfect time to discover all the benefits of an SWLS library card. A library card is free at the Mineral Point Public Library and provides access to free learning, entertainment, and essential services.
Because our library system is interconnected, cardholders can check out a wide variety of materials, including books, DVDs, preschool kits, and even a telescope. We can also quickly source materials from libraries throughout our five-county network. For those who prefer digital resources, your library card provides access to the Libby app, where you can enjoy ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines. Our website also offers valuable databases, including Consumer Reports, Transparent Language, AtoZ World Travel, and more. Our fall programming schedule also begins this month. We are launching a new fall session of storytime featuring reading and fun activities, along with courses designed specifically for local seniors through our Senior Planet program. Students can also look forward to activities every Wednesday during early release.
