Ted Robert Galle, age 48, passed away peacefully at his home in Mineral Point with his family by his side. Ted was born to Joseph A. Galle and Margaret (Connor) Galle on April 26, 1978 in the Dodgeville Hospital. Ted was named after his two grandfathers, Ted Galle and Robert Connor.
Ted dealt with heart issues his entire life and through the skill and love of surgeons and doctors at St Mary’s Hospital, The Cleveland Clinic, and Mayo Clinic Ted lived a full and busy life for 48 years. Ted was fortunate to be raised in Mineral Point, a community that believes in acceptance and inclusion.
In 1980,Ted’s brother Mike joined the family. Mike gave Ted the greatest gift, a sense of brotherly normalcy. He did not baby or coddle him as they grew up together, getting into mischief together and doing everything brothers do. Both were loyal and true to each other until the end. Ted served as Co-Best Man for Mike and Billie Jo McCarville’s wedding on June 26, 2004.
Ted’s early education in Mineral Point started with a cooperative agreement with the Dodgeville School District where Ted had wonderful loving teachers. In 1996 Ted joined the Mineral Point class of 1999, a class that fully embraced and loved Ted.
Ted was an active participate in Special Olympics for many years in track and field events and bowling. Ted and Mike were involved in the County Line 4-H club, taking their chickens to the Iowa County Fair for several years.
During his high school years Ted became involved in sports as a manager for the football, wrestling, and baseball teams thanks to coaches Floyd Spoor, Scott Schmitz, Ron Murphy, Tom Steger, and Dan Burreson. Ted attended as many boys and girls sports events as possible. As testament to the loving kindness of the Mineral Point community Ted never worried about transportation to and from games. In recognition of Ted’s unwavering support of Mineral Point High School sports he was the 2011 Homecoming Parade Marshall.
Ted graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1999 along side his brother Mike.
In 2001 Ted started working at the Alliant Energy Service Center in Mineral Point in a supportive employment position through Hodan Community Services. In May 2026 Ted received a 25 year employment award from Alliant Energy. Ted was also employed at Hodan Community Services for more than 20 years. Ted loved both jobs and looked forward to going to work each day.
For many summers Ted vacationed at the extended Connor family cottage on Long Lake. He first went with his mother and brother and cousins. Later he went with his Aunt Mary and other devoted aunts and uncles. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, playing cards, games, and laughing during his week at the cottage.
Ted loved traveling including trips to Disney World, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Mammoth Cave, Mount Rushmore, and many family visits to relatives in the Chicago area.
Ted was a member of the Mineral Point Lions Club for more than 20 years. He attended those meetings with his Uncle Gary. He enjoyed being the Tail Twister for many years.
Ted loved his cell phone and computer. He kept up on school board meetings for the Mineral Point and Darlington School Districts. He was always on the lookout for snow days and virtual learning days! Ted loved to text his brother, nieces, nephew, and other relatives and friends. Ted was also the master of remote controls and was more handy with them than his mother. His favorite TV shows were Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
Ted loved watching Badger Football, Basketball, and Volleyball. He was a devoted Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan. He loved going to Milwaukee Brewers games with friends and family.
Ted will be sorely missed by his parents, his brother and sister in law Mike and Billie Jo Galle, his nieces Ryver and Raegan, and his nephew Jaiden. He is further survived by many aunts and uncles: Kathy Galle, Frank Galle, Deb Galle, Gary (Jeanette) Galle, Cathy (Randy) Hinze, Tom (Karen) Galle, Robert (Rosemary) Connor, Neil (Marcia) Connor, Patrick (Joan) Connor, Elizabeth (Steve) Tucker, Mary Connor, Virginia Porterfield, John (Leslie) Connor, and Ellen (Marcel Van Camp) Connor. Ted is also survived by many first cousins, second cousins, his parents’ first cousins, and countless friends.
Ted was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Mary Galle and Robert and Mary Connor, his uncles John Galle, Charles Galle, Donald Galle, and Waldon Porterfield and his aunts Julie Connor Wickland and Catherine Connor and several dear cousins.
Ted’s family want to thank so many people including his Galle and Connor relatives, the wonderful teachers Ted had in Dodgeville and Mineral Point, the staff at Alliant Energy, the staff at Hodan Community Services, the staff at Cardiac Rehab at Upland Hills, Upland Hills Hospital, and Upland Hills Hospice.
A visitation will be held at Gorgen-McGinley-Ayers Funeral Home, 400 Grace Street in Dodgeville on Thursday July 23, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private burial will be held.
