In 10 years, the Mineral Point Community Foundation (MPCF) fund reached $1 million in its endowment.
A May 28 event will outline the fund’s beginning and future and include release of a 10-year impact report.
“Over the past ten years, the Mineral Point Community Foundation has shown what is possible when a community invests in itself,” said Kristin Mitchell, chair of the foundation fund board. “What we’ve built together is not just support for today. It’s a lasting foundation for future generations.”
Since it began, the fund made 57 grants worth $169,000 to 18 nonprofits, schools, and local government entities that address educational, cultural, and civic needs in Mineral Point.
Contributions came from 370 donors, for a total of 1,238 individual contributions.
Mitchell will speak at the May 28 event from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mineral Point Opera House. Wyatt Jackson, president and CEO of Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, the organization that manages the money, will make a short presentation.
The event features wine, beer and appetizers.
“This is really an opportunity for the MPCF to celebrate and appreciate the people who got us where we are today,” Mitchell said.
