Pointer baseball wins pitching duel 1-0 over Southwestern

With two outs in the second inning, the Pointers hit three consecutive singles against Southwestern pitcher Dax Solverson. Elliot Kite’s single brought Hudson Schroeder home from second base, scoring the only run of the game as Mineral Point beat Southwestern 1- 0 on Tuesday afternoon at Ted Evans Field.

Adam Cody went the distance for the Pointers on the mound pitching, allowing only two hits, striking out five and walking three batters. Solverson was equally tough for Southwestern on the mound as he also pitched the entire game allowing only four hits, striking out two and issuing no walks. He did give up the one earned run in the second inning.

Evan Kearns, Brylen Lee, Schroeder and Kite each had a hit for the Pointers. Lucas Foley and Clayton Keleher both had a hit for Southwestern.

Mineral Point is now 9-2 on the season. Their next game will be Thursday afternoon as they play Pecatonica in a game which will be played at the iconic Field of Dreams ballpark near Dyersville, Iowa. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
