The Mineral Point Pointers turned in a dominant performance over the weekend, capturing the Orangeville Tournament championship for the first time in program history.
The Pointers opened play on Friday with a commanding 14-1 victory over St. Francis. Sophomore pitcher Tenleigh Bockhop set the tone early, striking out 10 batters in an impressive showing in the circle.
Momentum carried into Saturday as Mineral Point defeated East Dubuque 9-1. Ava Ingwell led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 at the plate to pace the Pointers.
In the championship game, Mineral Point battled past Oregon, winning 5-4. Sophomore Austi Kinch powered the offense with two home runs, while Kabat delivered the decisive blow in the sixth inning with a clutch two-run homer to put the Pointers ahead for good.
With the win, the Pointers secured their first-ever Orangeville Tournament title, marking a historic achievement for the program.
