The Mineral Point varsity Pointers delivered a commanding performance Tuesday, cruising to an 11-0 victory over Shullsburg/Benton behind a balanced effort at the plate and on the mound.
Mineral Point wasted little time setting the tone, pushing across two runs in the opening inning and continuing to build steady offensive pressure throughout the game. A three-run second inning created early separation, and the Pointers never looked back. Evan Kearns added to the highlight reel with a solo home run in the third, helping extend the lead as the offense continued to produce.
In the middle of the lineup, Brett Bossert played a key role, driving in two runs while collecting a pair of hits. He was joined by Cole Ripp, who also tallied two hits in a well-rounded offensive showing. The
Pointers displayed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Adam Cody accounting for two and adding speed on the bases with a pair of steals.
Ripp also made an impact on the mound, earning the win after striking out four over two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. Mineral Point’s pitching staff combined for a shutout effort, with Cody and Bossert each contributing scoreless relief appearances to preserve the win.
Defensively, the Pointers were sharp and efficient, committing no errors and turning a double play. Brylen Lee anchored the defense with a game-high eight chances, helping keep Shullsburg/Benton off balance throughout the contest.
With contributions across the board, Mineral Point showcased both depth and discipline in a decisive victory as they continued to build momentum early in the season.
