The first blizzard in more than a decade came in stages. Sunday started with thunder and lightning, shifted to sleet and then to freezing rain that left a glaze on tree branches, street signs and anything outside.
Then snow started Sunday night. leading to blizzard conditions and white out due to blowing and drifting.
On Monday, schools closed, as did some businesses. Even after the snow stopped, blowing and drifting continued.
Spring arrives Friday, but experienced Wisconsin weather watchers know that doesn’t mean winter is over.
